Yet again, for the second weekend in a row I was looking to get some sun and get out of the clouds and fog in Whitehorse. Instead of heading out west like the prior week, I saw that the skies were clear in Skagway, even through Carcross looked covered. Taking a gamble on the cloud maps and webcams, I headed off!
The drive was quite clouded in until I got past the Canadian customs station, when I started seeing glimpses of light.

The minute I hit the summit, things started to clear up, and I realized my gamble had been worth it. This photo is taken from the pullout at the summit.

This next one was a couple minutes down the road, and the fog had decreased substantially.

Here I am looking back toward the summit, with the fog/cloud held up.

The stunning views continued on my drive down.

Skagway was cold, but the town itself was snow-free, quite the change from Whitehorse and the White Pass! I took a trip to the falls, and for the first time, took them in completely alone.

Unsurprisingly, there isn’t much open in Skagway at this time of year. I went to Cafe on 5th, grabbed a delicious baked good and a latte, and went for a walk around town. I walked out onto the pier – something I normally can’t do because of the cruise ship traffic!

After enjoying the sun and snack, I headed home to Whitehorse. The fog/cloud picked right back up at the summit again, as seen from this cloud at Outhouse Hill.
