On May 29th, we left Toronto and took a couple flights across the continent to our new home in Whitehorse! We’d spent some Christmas money and timed a seat sale and booked ourselves (and our cat) in business class on Air Canada from Toronto to Whitehorse.
We got to the airport the recommended 3 hours early. I asked for a private screening room so that I didn’t need to carry Brunswick with me through the machines. He’s not often a bolter but we didn’t want to take the chance. We bought a carrier which had a side compartment which we could unzip so he could have more room on the flight.
In Toronto, we stopped at the Air Canada lounge in the domestic area. We enjoyed a nice breakfast and headed down as our plane started to board. Here’s Brunswick in his carrier in the lounge:

Our first flight of the day was AC109 from Toronto to Vancouver. We left a touch late at 10:13 AM EDT, landing early at 11:27 AM PDT. The flight was on an Airbus A321-211, a 22 year old plane with tail C-GJWO. Brunswick is in his carrier all zipped up here between the two seats prior to takeoff:

Here he is with the side unzipped while in the air:

He was quite well behaved on the flight – only meowing once. He mostly sat around and slept a little. Kayla and I had chicken teriyaki for our meal, which was excellent.
After a two hour stop in Vancouver, we were on our next leg of the journey. Our flight to Whitehorse was AC8099, on a 4-year-old CRJ-900 with tail C-FJGZ. We took off slightly behind at 2:28 PM PDT, landing early at 4:40 PM YST. Note that Yukon is on its own time zone as it is essentially on “permanent” daylight savings time.
Here is Brunswick with the carrier zipped up underneath the seat in front of me. If you’re travelling with a pet, make sure you take the window seat!

Here he is with the compartment unzipped:

Overall, he was extremely well behaved the entire day. We skipped his breakfast and gave him gabapentin to help ease his stomach and help him relax. He got several treats throughout the day, and was excited when suppertime came. We brought him into one of the single-room bathrooms in Toronto and Vancouver to let him stretch his legs a bit, which he appreciated.
Finally, here’s the view out the window on our descent into Whitehorse, looking out over the Takhini River valley.
